Our certified therapists and professionals work within a transdisciplinary model of intervention, providing comprehensive evidence-based and clinic-based intervention programmes across various areas such as speech, language, occupational therapy, play, literacy, numeracy, creative art, handwriting, counselling, and social interaction.
We work closely with families and caregivers to improve the lives of their children.
We provide a safe and positive environment in our clinic, as well as schools and homes, where every child and person are treated with respect and dignity.
At Headstart, our interventions are guided by the following approaches:
Child-led learning. We believe that children learn best when they are relaxed and are having fun. Child – led learning allows each child to choose an activity, how it should be played and how much time is spent on it. This approach motivates and engages a child to learn by incorporating what they enjoy.
Play–based learning. Naturally, children’s main occupation is play. Play motivates them to explore, discover, problem – solve and experiment through their imagination and play skills.
Sensory–based learning. Children are more engaged and retain information when they use their senses (touch, taste, smell, sight, hearing, and movement) to explore and make sense of the world around them. Using sensory – play, we are giving our children an opportunity to build nerve connections creating more brain pathways for brain development.
Scaffolding based on Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD). Scaffolding refers to the optimal amount of support needed to guide learners to master a new skill. Supports are gradually lessened and ultimately removed once skills are mastered. At Headstart, we understand our children’s current level then guide them through their zone of proximal learning so they can successfully learn new skills with confidence.
Strong Family Involvement. We strongly encourage our parents and caregivers to join our sessions, to educate themselves in helping their children grow up to be strong, more resilient and happy children.
And most importantly, to have FUN!
Together with you, we strive to grow without barriers!
Occupational Therapy is the art and science of using meaningful activities to develop, remediate, and maintain the daily living, engagement, and play skills of children with physical or learning difficulties.
Our Social Skills Training programme is designed to help children who are experiencing difficulties in social interactions, allowing them to work at their own pace as they learn how to handle a wide array of social and life challenges.
It aims to help children acquire and apply skills that they are specifically challenged with through professional and structured intervention in a group setting.
