Anna Silva
Head of School Readiness Programme
Anna earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the Philippines, Manila in 2011. From her years of experience, she gained and learned from working in various settings such as private paediatric centres, government hospitals, non-profit organizations and community-based visits.
She was a consultant speech and language pathologist in different private paediatric centres in Makati, Philippines before coming to Singapore in 2013. In Singapore, Anna was part of the team who ensured the progress of HeadStart for Life’s School Readiness Program (SRP). She heads the SRP team of professionals in ensuring quality care and support for children who needs support in various areas of development. She has also conducted workshops for parents and teachers, specifically on play, speech-language milestones and speech red flags.
Anna has proficient experiences in handling children with various cognitive and communication issues and she is passionate about continuously building her knowledge in helping children with special needs. She actively works together with other professionals (occupational therapists, psychologists, parents, special educators, school teachers) in the field of special education to provide a holistic approach in teaching children with special needs.
Through on-site and electronic trainings and workshops, Anna has been continuously developing her skills in numerous speech-language areas such as communication disorders (Speech Sound Disorders: Differential Diagnosis), alternative-augmentative communication (The Fundamentals of AAC), articulation (Introduction to PROMPT), narratives (e-Seminar: Narrative Assessment with Cultural Applications), hearing (Introduction to AVT Practice), language (DIR/Floortime 101, Teacher Talk Training A: Encouraging Language Development in Early Childhood), executive function (Sensory Processing to Executive Functioning), literacy (Introduction to Orton-Gillingham) and social skills (Assessing Social Skills and Teaching Social Skills). In 2018, Anna attended Singapore’s first Early Intervention Conference. She also completed a Basic Singapore Sign Language Course offered by the Singapore Association for the Deaf.
She is fluent in English and Filipino languages.
